Project: In Your Shoes
A recent trip to the Caribbean island of Isla Roatan instigated my desire to join the fight against poverty, and upon my return I decided to begin this mission with something small yet fundamentally essential to the entire human species; protective footwear.
It's often stated that, “it is the little things that go unnoticed.” This simple but true statement is the foundation for our first project, Project 'In Your Shoes.' Many of us give little thought to the numerous luxuries that we are afforded; the clothes we wear, the water we drink, the food we eat, and the homes in which we live, to name a few.
Take a moment and think of all the places in which you've been and have traveled. For many of us the journey has been a long one; first day of kindergarten, middle school, sporting events, boy or girl scouts, prom, high school graduation, college, spring break, first job interview, first day at work, family vacations, and so on. There is a fundamental resource that accompanied us during our entire journey, our shoes. They’ve kept you warm, helped you run faster, complimented your outfits perfectly, helped you get away, accompanied you on long walks, and now there job is done! Let those shoes which have brought you so far be the beginning of someone else’s journey.
Project ‘In Your Shoes’ is an endeavor on the behalf of A Chance 2 Become…, Inc. to provide millions of needy with this most fundamental yet critical resource. At this time we are only collecting used sneakers or tennis shoes. At a later date we will begin collecting dress shoes, boots, and other footwear.
The benefits of this project

- there are 1.5 billion pairs of unused shoes in American closets..
